Deadline for YFZ response extended to Friday

Even as time ticked down on Warren Jeffs’ latest end of the world prophecy, attorneys representing his followers at the YFZ

Ranch asked for more time to  respond to the state’s lawsuit that seeks to seize the 1,691-acre ranch.
Assistant Attorney General Kent S. Richardson agreed to the request and a formal “Rule 11 Agreement for Extension of Time to Answer” was filed Monday in the Schleicher County Clerk’s office. It extends the deadline for response to Friday, January 4, 2013.

 

YFZ deadline extended with service of additional papers

A deadline to respond to a lawsuit brought by Texas Attorney Greg Abbott against the United Order of Texas Trust was automatically extended last Friday when additional documents were served in the case.

Jeffs mails book to officials nationwide

Copies of a 907-page book titled “Jesus Christ Message to All Nations” by imprisoned FLDS prophet Warren Steed Jeffs are being received at libraries and by public officials across the nation.

The hardback book, complete with gold-embossed cover and spine, includes a hodgepodge of so-called revelations, prophecies, church history and a section of “Warnings to the Nations.”

 

Arizona AG holds press conference announces new FLDS criminal probe

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne announced Tuesday that his office will be looking into charges involving the Marshal’s Office in the FLDS community of Short Creek, the common name for the twin cities of Colorado City, Arizona and Hildale, Utah.
Horne’s announcement came in conjunction with the public appearance of Ruby Jessop, 26-year-old sister of anti-polygamy activist Flora Jessop.

 

State tries various ways to deliver YFZ seizure citations

The office of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is still trying to serve notices of a lawsuit to the trustees of the United Order of Texas Trust, the legal entity that claims ownership of the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado. Abbott is seeking to seize the 1,691-acre ranch because he says it was purchased with money laundered funds and used to conceal numerous crimes, including multiple cases of Sexual Assault of a Child.
